I remember the distant 2014, back when I first started blogging… my favorite thing back then was photographing products and rushing to review them on my blog.

All of that, of course, was before my focus shifted to different kinds of topics. But let’s be honest with ourselves. I may care about art, but I’m also a woman — and as a woman, I still care about makeup, clothes… and anything that falls under the umbrella of self‑care.

The good thing about this blog is that it will cover a bit of everything, so I won’t have to limit myself to one specific theme — that’s not the purpose of this space anyway. But enough with the long intro (I promise the rest of the articles won’t start like this). Let’s get to the point.

✨ Recent Makeup Purchases & How Satisfied I Am with Them ✨

Estée Lauder
Double Wear

I’ll start with my favorite product, because it’s a foundation I’ve talked about countless times in the past — and I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned it on this blog too — so I don’t need to say much about this masterpiece.

It’s the Double Wear by Estée Lauder, and it’s been with me ever since foundation touched my face for the first time ever.

As you can imagine, it has sentimental value for me. I’ve been repurchasing it since I was around 16 (I’m 30 now, so feel free to do the math), and even though I’ve tried plenty of others over the years, this one simply cannot be missing from my nécessaire...

It just can’t!!!

It’s a product widely used by professional makeup artists, it has a matte finish, and the coverage is intense.

The Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF10 is designed to have a matte finish and control oil. But to be fair, based on conversations I’ve had with friends, I wouldn’t say with absolute certainty that it sits the same on everyone’s skin. On dry skin, it can emphasize dry patches and fine lines, and it can look uneven without proper prep.

Also… it doesn’t always come with an applicator.

MUA
PRO/BASE
Long Wear Soft Matte Foundation

And yes!!!

I’m not sure if anyone has ever mentioned this in a review, or if I’m the only one who sees it this way, but I’ll go ahead and say it: this foundation could easily be considered a more affordable dupe for Double Wear.

It’s a solid product, and I’ll definitely repurchase it. To be honest, over the last two to four years I’ve started trusting this brand more because of TikTok, and there are a few products that have impressed me quite a lot… maybe not so much the eyeshadows (at least the ones I tried), but that’s a conversation for another post.

Back to the Pro/Base — it’s a pretty full‑coverage foundation, and it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin at all. It’s like you’re not wearing anything. At least for me…

Much more affordable compared to Estée Lauder’s, which costs around €60 in Greece, and the quality is genuinely very, very good.

If I had to rate it based on what it offers, I’d give it a 9.5/10. It works great for everyday makeup without feeling like too much.

PRO/BASE FIXING

Another product I bought along with this foundation is this setting spray from the Pro/Base line of the same brand, which I wear every time I do my makeup to set everything in place — and I dare say it’s another purchase I would totally make again.

However, I’ll definitely come back during the summer to give you an update on whether everything I said still stands…

Xo,xo

PRO/BASE FULL COVERAGE CONCEALER

I don’t have much to say about this product. It’s a concealer I buy from a local store in my area, and it was also one of the first products from this brand that I ever tried.

CATRICE
LASH//BROW
Mascara Gel

I’m not unfamiliar with eyebrow soaps and similar brow‑care products, and even though this is the fourth time I’ve bought something brow‑related, it’s the first time I’ve tried this brand but I still haven’t fully understood what its purpose is… does it moisturize?

Hmm, maybe…

NANOBROW
Eyebrow Styling Soap

…and since we’re already talking about brow products, I couldn’t not mention my new favorite, the soap from NANOBROW, which I’m ordering it for the second time and once I finish it, I’m definitely going for a third. It’s a product I use to tame my brows every single day, whether I’m wearing makeup or not. It does exactly what it promises, it lasts a long time, and it comes with this little black brush.

REVOLUTION
Foundation Drops

Revolution is another brand I discovered through TikTok, and I have to admit it has quite a lot of fans. However, this specific product didn’t work for me the way I expected when I swatched it on my hand from the tester, because it’s way too runny for my face and it makes me look oily. It’s definitely a foundation that, based on my personal experience, I wouldn’t recommend for the summer months. In fact, I’ve had this one for exactly a year and I’ve used it less than seven times.

Obviously, we can’t all have the same taste, and I have absolutely no intention of dismissing any brand just because one product didn’t work for me the way I thought it would. Like I said above, not everything suits everyone — some of us have different skin types, and it’s normal that the same things don’t satisfy all of us 🤍

What do you think about the products above?
Have you tried any of them?
